Things to know about when buying:

• Don't use the same lawyer as the developer
  
  
• If you think or feel that you would be safer using one of the larger real estate companies, think again! This is not always the case. Their money and time is spent on fancy advertising and not checking important items like the land registry
  
  
• Don't agree to put down cash deposits, as you would be be led to believe that this is to your benefit. This is not the case
  
  
• Before you purchase land or property, make sure you check the title deeds against the lands plot number at the nearest land registry office. The cost for this should be no more than £1 to £2 sterling
